Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park, on Coney Island, is a wonderful place for fun for the whole family. And who better to know than Deno Vourderis, who came from a family of 24! There are a total of 21 rides in the park, with nearly every type of ride you could wish for.
The Kiddie Park has 17 of the rides, and despite its name, is good for more than just children. The Kiddie Park has all manner of rides, from the ever-classic Carousel, to Flying Elephants, to Boats & Fire Engines, Jumping Motorcycles, the Pirate’s Pond and Mini Pirate Ship. And don’t forget the Tilt-a-Whirl or Free Fall! Tickets for the Kiddie Park are $3 each, but can be gotten with a discount in packs of 10 or 20.
Four adult rides include the Spook-a-Rama, which is quite what it sounds like, the Thunderbolt ride, and Bumper Cars! But you really can’t talk about Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park, without talking about the Wonder Wheel! The Wonder Wheel is a 150 foot tall ferris wheel, capable of holding 144 passengers. Eight of the Wheel’s gondolas operate traditionally, attached to the outside rim of the wheel. The other 16 however, slide on rails as you go up and down, to make the ride a bit more interesting. The Wheel has had a perfect safety record since it was built, in 1920! The Wonder Wheel is such a fantastic ferris wheel, that there are replicas of it in both Disney’s California Adventure, and Yokohama Japan. Tickets for the adult rides cost $7 each, or a set of four can be gotten for $25.
